This Privacy Policy explains how The Good Shepherd (thegoodshepherd.me), operated by The Indigo Foundation LLC, a Georgia limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”), collects, uses and shares information when you visit this website, subscribe to The Shepherd’s Letter, or contact us.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter signup: your email address (and your first name, if you choose to give it) when you subscribe to The Shepherd’s Letter.
  • Email messages: your name, email address and anything you include in your message, including prayer requests.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data: pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, approximate location (city or region, based on IP address), browser and device type. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies (see below).
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs (IP address, date and time, requested page) for security and performance.

We don’t knowingly ask for sensitive information. Please don’t include medical, financial-account or other sensitive details in an email or prayer request.

How we use information

  • To send The Shepherd’s Letter and related updates you’ve asked for.
  • To answer your messages and prayer requests.
  • To understand which content is helpful and improve the site.
  • To keep the site secure and working properly.
  • To show advertising that helps support this free content (see “Advertising”).
  • To comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our partners use them to remember preferences, measure traffic, and deliver and measure ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as intended if you do.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site. Google may collect information such as pages visited and device data. Learn more in Google’s explanation of how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site uses or may use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service, to show ads.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick (DART) cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. Learn more in How Google uses cookies in advertising.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices, or in the EU at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
  • If third-party vendors or ad networks other than Google serve ads on this site, they may also use cookies. Their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent, through a consent banner, before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.

Email (The Shepherd’s Letter)

Our newsletter is delivered by Kit (kit.com). When you subscribe, your email address and subscription activity (such as opens and clicks) are processed by Kit for us. We use double opt-in, so you’ll confirm your subscription by email. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.

Embedded content and links

Articles may include embedded videos (for example, from YouTube) and links to other sites such as Patreon, our shop, or government resources. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other site, and that site may collect data about you under its own privacy policy. We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run the site and newsletter, such as our web host (Hostinger), WordPress plugins (including form and SEO tools), Kit, and Google. They may use it only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

How long we keep information

We keep subscriber information while you’re subscribed, and contact messages for as long as needed to respond and keep reasonable records. Analytics and advertising data are kept according to our providers’ retention settings.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any email.
  • Ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by emailing ascentiummediagroup@gmail.com.
  • Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, the UK, or U.S. states such as California), you may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, correct, or opt out of certain sharing or “targeted advertising.” We’ll respond as the law requires.

Children’s privacy

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS encryption, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
